It's Race Day! The race was this morning and we know Andrew and Ryan Star joined David in DC. David managed to surpass not only his fund-raising goal ($139,977.60 so far!) but also better his running time from last year:

Everything's been tallied and we've come up with an amazing 180,549 words of fic and $225 in donations directly resulting from this challenge. Plus, the spin-off dollar drive brought in a bunch more too. Wow!

I wanted to write something as a thank you, but my muses are NOT having it. So, I thought I'd try my hand at a semi-surprise podfic (my first!) of the last fic posted in the challenge, by jehane_writes.

Three Races
Read the fic written by jehane_writes
Download the podfic read by likealocket (mp3, 20.36MB, 22:14)
(Three fics in one. PG to mild R. Cook/Carrie, Cook/Neal/Andy, Cook/Anthemic, Cook/Archie)

We want to thank you all again -everyone that wrote, donated, cheerleaded, pimped, participated in ANY way- for supporting this challenge and ultimately bringing us a little closer to a cure for brain cancer.

Also: David mentioned in a tweet yesterday that donations will still be accepted toward this year's race until August!

Race for Hope, Washington DC, Freedom Plaza is a 5K walk/run with the goal of raising $1.5 million to fund innovative brain tumor research and support for families affected by this devastating disease. Proceeds benefit two not-for-profit organizations, the Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

A reminder of how DCook run the race last year: self-deprecating wit, humor, sheer courage. ILH so much.
